Getting back to Kurt's original question, I took a quick look at my differential this morning and it has the following numbers stamped on the housing: 4061006430 878233 S40 I didn't see any evidence of "S5xx". Lou |

can't be German. These GB's break too often. Oh...maybe German seconds. |

ZF Friedrichshafen AG is the name of the German company. ZF stands for "Zahnradfabrik" which translates to "cog-wheel factory" in English. This was the early name of the company which was founded in 1915. |

The original window sticker for my '90 T doesn't say ZF, just "Limited Slip", but the Ferrari website says "ZF limited-slip differential" at: <http://www.ferrari.it/cgi-bin/fworld.dll/ferrariworld/scripts/gt/car_data.jsp?car_type=gt&car_id=mondial_t+-+t_cabriolet> I have the gearbox on my workbench if you want me to check something simple. What does 'ZF' mean anyway (sorry for not knowing)? Lou |
