This is info for early TR owners and 512bb with the chrome ring too. Removing the chrome ring turned out to be fairly simple once I fabricated a flat-curved tool that is 15cm long, 5mm thick, 30mm wide with a 90 bend about 12mm long at the working end. I maneuvered the bent end between two of the five nuts holding the spline hub on that are partially hidden by the ring, and then gently pushed down and they popped right off. Joe |

Price shop T. Rutlands and Lyle Tanner... Ted has reproductions, so I'm told. Lyle may still be able to get them from Europe. |

David, Thanks, I can't believe they made them that way. I guess I'll call Tom Seanacy (sp) to see if he has them. Do you know of any other source? Joe |

Joe, This is the same set up I have on my BB. Never...in 20 years of trying, have I ever been able to remove the chrome ring without bending it. Due to the design of the hub, and the taper of the ring...it's pretty much a throw away item. The good news is that they still are available...Figure on $45-$70 a piece, depending on the vendor. Hello, Do any of you know a technique for removing the small outer chrome ring from an early, single-lug TR wheel? I tried to pry it up but I am afraid that I might bend the thing. It does rotate on the wheel but does not come off. Once it is off, I can remove the five nuts and bolts holding the splined wheel hub on. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Joe
