Front seal, near the pulley: I installed mine all the way until it goes no further. The first time, i put the seal in flush and the spinning pulley rips the seal into a million little pieces and instant oil leak.

Rear seal, in as far as it goes.

It depends.

If an inner lip is present, then it should be installed butted up against the inner lip (which usually leaves the seal flush with the outside). If no inner lip is present, then it should be installed flush with the outer surface.

The only deviation would be if a very old, hard seal has worn a groove in the steel running surface. Then it's sop to change slightly where the new seal lip would ride on the running surface to prevent damage to the new seal and leaks caused by the irregular wear. Of course this second procedure is olny if/when reinstalling a worn running piece.

When replacing the mail oil seal do you push it in as far as it will go or flush with the adapter plate?

Thanks .... Gary
