yes any time you lose oil pressure in any car the situation is usually grim....in a ferrari its grimmer!! My guess is it will at least be an engine out afair and probably to the turn of $5000 depending on damage to cam journals, and more importantly the crank shaft. Did you have oil sprayed all over your car anywhere as in a hose blew, or is it just you see no oil pressure? |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but what you're describing can't in any way be good. How long it ran after pressure loss and the load placed on the engine during that time will determine the amount of damage that was done. Restarting it was a bad idea, IMHO. Initial damage will appear in the cam journals and rod bearings first, followed by the main bearings. There is a chance you lucked out and avoided significant damage to these components, but I would suspect at least some was done. At a minimum, I would suspect it's going to require an engine out service. I wish I had better news. |

i just got a 95 348 spider with 8000 mi and had it on the track. i lost oil pressure and the engine shut down. it now starts and sounds ok but there is no oil pressure. nothing even comes out with the filter removed. anyone with ideas out there? can anyone reassure me the engine isnt shot since it still starts ok? my mechanic cant start on it for 5 days and im going nuts waiting thanks neal |
