Todd either color will work. I have found the silver leaf to have a little more brilliance. But after doing the entire engine you wouldn't be able to see a difference anyway.

I did my engine with it, and it came out fantastic. Lots of great comments on how good my engine bay looks. I diluted the R & B with some paint thinnner about 50% and brushed it on then buffed a bit when dry, it shines just like polished aluminum.

You can buy it at Hobby Lobby too.

Don't mka eht mistake I made last summer with this stuff. I shot some degreaser on the motor and it took ALL of the RUB and BUFF, OFF!!!!!

So, if you put it on and you don't like it, you can always take it off.

I've heard my car won a Platinum at the french Quarter Conourso.

So, I guess it did help.

Magoo, you should have contacted Rub & Buff directly and asked them to repackage and label it for exotics. You probably could have sold it for $50 a tube! You've really started something here... I recall your first post about this stuff a year ago! :-)

I have been using a soft stensiling brush. It is designed better for getting into the tight areas. They are available at Michaels as well.

That's right Ben. I have been using this product for years on all my collectibles and the SOFT bristle paint brush works best I have found because you can work the product down into the small grooves and pores of the metal. As a matter of fact when it has dried using a SOFT bristle paint brush also polishes it very nicely.

Another good substitute for rub-n-buff can be purchased at your local grocery store. Just buy powdered aluminum cleaner (looks like powdered kitchen cleanser like BonAmi or Comet), thin with water, and rub it into the metal surfaces with a damp cloth. Works great to get rid of the oxidation, and does so without adding anything to the surface.

With engine out you would have better access. I just removed the rear bonnett and also the intake tube. Impossible to get everywhere though. Only about 15 minutes to get where most people see it, however, 15 hours to finish off everwhere. Mine was only the 15 minute job so far.

I went out and got some rub and buff this weekend. Found it at Michael's. Only thing they had that wasn't a gold tone was silver. Sounded like silver plate. Have any of you found any other silver tones? I was thinking something like Aluminum rather than plate. Rob and Kelly your engines look great. Puts mine to shame. Did the engines have to come out to do this? Has anybody done an in-car clean up with r & b?

Thanks

Another application tool is a soft bristle paint brush. It gets the rub and buff down into the pores of the metal. Then buff with rag or another soft bristle brush.

Is there a website that sells Rub & Buff? None of the stores around here have it or heard of it.

Thanks!

Yeah Kelly it looks very good. Also if you use the Grecian gold it tends to leave the green highlights that is in the orig. plating.

It's found at art (and craft) stores, do a search of the archives, and yes it can be used on the TR block (IIRC all Ferrari engines are aluminum).

Rub and buff can be used on any engine. It can be found at hobby shops art stores and places like Joannes Fabrics. Go into the archives and type in "rub and buff." You will find the info. you need on the product as well as the application.

Fantastic results, Kelly .... that Rub & Buff is great stuff! Just bought a couple of tubes of two shades of gold to use on various surfaces last week. Also, I've been using the silver on door latches, pins, and just about every other silver colored item on the car -- and haven't even begun to use up the tube yet. Thanks again, Magoo, for recommending this stuff!
