Thanks Magoo,

I have had the car for a while now at it never stops suprising me. It is amazing how I never notice somethings on it until, in this case, a year later.

Matt, you will get carbon build up, The pass. side has less pressure so the carbon settles in the tips rather than getting blown through like on the drivers side. Same as it is on my 79 308. Also for what it is worth my 308 has less pressure on the pass. side then the drivers side. I would say your car is normal. JMO

Thanks Magoo,

Any thoughts on the carbon buildup on the tips?

I know a guy who installed a tubi in place of his orig. muffler on his 78 308. The tubi still had less pressure on the pass. side. The drivers side had full, more pressure as you described. In your owners manual there is a pic of the entire exhaust system. Look at the pipe that runs to the pass. side of the muffler. There is a very tight "U" bend before the cat where it goes into the pass. side of the muffler. This is your loss of pressure IMO.

Matt: Looks like the problem is on the side I was on Sunday. Had chili the night before, so maybe that's your answer.

Matt,
Uneven exhaust flow is a common observation amoung 308 owners.

Thanks Bill,

In the morning on warm up, The pass side seems to eek out the exhaust were as the driver is a pronounced blast of air.

Matt,
The exhaust headers on carb 308's dump into a common muffler chamber. Flow within the muffler chamber is apparently not symetrical or balanced. Your new cats should have no effect on flow within the muffler if they both flow about the same.

FYI,

I just installed two new remanufactured cats in late October. Not sure if this mattered

Here are some pic's of my pipes. One side, the drive is clean and clear and the passenger side is black as Nome Alaska in Jan. I suspect it is a rich/lean issue but I am not sure which side of the engine it is on. Is the muffler one chamber for both sides or is it divided into 2?
