Hi Hans, I've just sent you an email ... I think it's the motor on the fan. Everything else checks out unfortunately. |

Thanks for your advice guys. I had a further look at the situation today, the RH fan doesn't turn on at any time - Air conditioning or warm engine. LH fan turns on fine for warm engine. I've got my circuit wiring diagrams, and some time tomorrow - let's hope it's only a fuse! |

Matt: Come to think of it, just before they both crapped out, one was running slowly (dim), and the other would run if you jiggled the wires (flicker). |

Check the fan motors. I *think* that the QV uses the later motors, but if they are the older Lucas motors, that could be the problem. Hans. (who had 2 - count 'em - 2 bad Lucas motors) |

Odhran -- Matt L. is describing how the 308 coolant radiator fan logic is supposed to work: Coolant cold, AC off -- both fans off Coolant cold, AC on -- RH fan runs Coolant warm, AC off -- both fans run Coolant warm, AC on -- both fans run The RH fan is controlled by two separate relays (one turns the RH fan "on" when the coolant is warm and the other turns the RH fan "on" when the AC is on), but they are fed by the same fuse. If you turn on the AC and the RH fan still doesn't run, it's probably a blown fuse (or a dead RH fan motor, or bad wiring/fusebox, etc.). If you turn on the AC and the RH fan does run (but it doesn't run when the coolant is warm) then the RH fan relay activated by the coolant sensor (or its wiring, etc.) is probably bad. Follow JRV's advice -- check the fuses (and if the RH fan motor fuse seems OK, it wouldn't hurt to verify that there's +12V present on both the input and output male terminals of the fusebox itself).

If it does not turn on then check the fuses. |

The air conditioner?? You serious? I thought it might be something like the thermostat control switch, or the fan motor or something. I'll check this out when I take the car out. Thanks! |

The fuses are a good place to start looking for a problem with an electrical problem. |

Turn on the air conditioner. That will start the RHS fan |

I haven't had a chance to properly look into this - I just noticed it the other day and I was in a hurry. The RHS radiator fan is not spinning. Any ideas to point me in the right direction before I delve into my manual? |
