Its called "Provision 100", the viewing tube is 18" long and is flexible, but will hold its shape (its like a microphone stand, I don't know the name of that tightly woven metal coil stuff is). It's 10.6mm in diameter and will fit through the 308's sparkplug hole and is waterproof. It obviously has a light.

The resolution is good and has a 40° view and can go as close as 3/4" away from an object and be in focus.

Don't worry, I'll post a pic of it later...

P.S. It was $350 Cdn.

I'm bringing this thread up again as I have just purchased one of these today. A local tool store had them on sale (well it wasn't cheap, but still $40 off the reg. price).

Its really cool! I'll see if I can put the digicam on the viewfinder and take pics through it.

Well, hopefully you would've cleaned the colonoscope before inserting it into the engine.

Sorry, couldn't resist...

I helped a friend working on a 275 GTB/4 many years ago. He was concerned that he MAY have dropped a washer down an intake velocity stack. I went to the out-patient department, borrowed a pediatric colonoscope, and plunged into the spark plug holes. Saw the washer, grabbed it with the wire "fingers" that you insert down the fiber optic tube, and 5 minutes later the job was done. I have two old adult colonoscopes that I use, but they are too large (diameter) to insert through a sparkplug hole. They are good for lots of other difficult spots. Great tool. (You need a light source with these fiber optic scopes).

The only concern was that I might get the cylinder dirty.

Great to look inside the heads from the spark plug holes.

Would also be great to check 308 muffler for breakdown and restrictions.

Spent Sat at WWOC looking into the nooks and craines of my MK-IV with a fiber optic viewing scope. This tool really works. Checked out the dry sump tank which holds 20 quarts and after 35 years in looked fine. You can use this to look inside your engine as well.
