PROBLEM FOUND !! Loose coil wire on right bank. Not apparent visibly, but it had slid down out of the coil about a half inch. The right bank had fire, but very weak. Checked and cleaned ALL connections I could find in the engine bay and fuse panel. Everything looked good, no overheating or burning anywhere. She fired right up immediately and ran great. Guys......I appreciate your help during this episode. I was very worried it was something serious. I didn't realize how worried I was till the TR fired up with a vengance and I involuntarily let out a Yippee! Sorry to bother all of you over something so simple. Thanks to all of You! Jeff |

If the left side ignition module fails the engine will run as you described. If the right one fails the engine will only run in the start position. You can swap the modules located above the ignition coils and see if anything changes. |

Sounds exactly like the problem many of us have had with our 348s. On the 348 it was the ECU on one bank malfunctioning and shutting down 4 cylinders! The ECU is made to do that if your exhaust is overheating to prevent a fire. Make sure that is not happening then disconnect the ECU that is cutting down a bank and see if the problem goes away. |

Also could be bad fuel pump and I'm sure a few other things. Check for fuel, check for spark (on each bank), one will surely be missing. -Ben

While driving my TR today, it seemed to lose power and rev slowly when I came to a stop. It had been running great for a couple of hours, than as I rolled to a stop at a light, the idle speed suddenly dropped a few hundred, but it continued running smoothly. As I pulled away, it was very sluggish and slow to rev. So of course I went straight home and put it in the shop. I've been reading through the archives, and would guess the causes are: Bad electrical connection at fuse box or relays in right side of engine bay, or a bad ignition coil. I will go spend some time tracing wires and checking for overheated connections, etc. I can't imagine it's anything major, but since I'm a novice with Ferraris what do I know. The car continued to run fine, no smoke or anything. Has anyone else experienced this? |
