I don't think the Euro cars had a dating plate, this is a US thing as far as I know.

You could look at the seat belt. There should be cloth tag at the base and this should have a date printed on it. This is the date of manufacture of the belt though, not the car. Check both sides in case the belt has been changed.

The glass will all be dated and so will the electrical relays. Again the dates here are the dates for the seperate items. The alloy wheels should also have a date on the inside hub stamped in the metal.

Usually the car will be 2-3 months newer than than the individual parts.

Finally the handbook and service book usually have a date printed on the back cover, but don't assume that these are original items.

Anyone have an idea where this plate might be? I've looked is the doors, engine compartment and up front but drawn a blank.

Can anyone confirm that the 88 car had ABS, while prior cars didn't? I'm trying to come up with some way of aging the "spec" year, not the year of first reg.

You need to check this out:

http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/vin.html

The "B" in the 8th place means it's a Euro model so the ninth and tenth places will be zeros. Note that you typed an "O" for the ninth place and not a zero which would be incorrect.

Don't forget, some models were sold as later model years even though they were built earlier. There should be a plate when the vehicle was manufactured too.

I am looking at a European Market Mondial 3.2 Cabrio here in Dubai. The only problem is that the dealer is selling it as a 90 model, and according to my research, 3.2's were not made beyond late 88, early 89. To confuse the issue, the Year code in the VIN is an O, which according to all references "NOT USED". The full VIN is

ZFFWC26BO00075176.

Is anyone able to shed any light on the year of manufacture of this vehicle?
