Peter, a secondary note beyond the mandatory relay upgrade. The wire connections at the fuse block plug-in are still very suspect as to their ability to flow current without overheating.

This is a perfect example of engineering that looked good on paper, but failed in the real world. The surface contact area and ability to maintain tension when heated of the original type connectors has proven to be insufficient over the long haul, long haul generally being what we consider 'use'...lol.

My theory is that the amp draw on brand new motors fell within certian allowable specs for the design of the cicuits, however it's likely the motors soon after being put into 'use' draw more amps than the circuits were designed to handle long term. This over spec draw causes the insufficient contacts to overheat, create resistance and overheat worse. Leading to the complete breakdown (melting) of the contact points.

So the relay, while important and neccesary, may not be the complete solution for melting contacts/holders/circuit boards.

Here's the Bosch metal vs plastic relay information that I've come across (but I'd not heard one was significantly better than the other -- perhaps depends on the application):

0 332 014 113 (metal) = 0 332 019 151 (plastic)
0 332 204 101 (metal) = 0 332 209 151 (plastic)
0 332 015 006 (metal) = ? (plastic)

Please feel free to let me know if something's wrong above or if you've got the missing Bosch PN -- TIA.
BTW -- about $7 each for the first two and ~$12 each for the oddball ...006 here:

Order the plastic Bosch Relays from almost anywhere that sells euro car parts...give them the old Bosch # and they should cross reference to the 'updated' part # without question. This was a "Bosch" service bulliten upgrade.

I'll post the new part # tommorow just in case.

I have an 86 Mondial 3.2 that is electrically sound except for the A/C fan relay that kicks off after running for an hour or so. The existing relays are Bosch metal. Where can I get the relays with plastic housing? Are these also made by Bosch and are the a direct replacement or do they require wiring or an adaptor?

I am in the process of replacing mine with the plastic covers. The method Bruce and I used to bypass the internals and the white connectors is to buy at Pep-Boys a GM style relay holder ($15) and put blade connectors on the ends. Attach the one wire to the two brown wires from the connector (for the A/C) and then just slip the blade connectors into the relay slots. It works great and does not alter the box nor requires the box to be taken apart.

Maybe you guys can bypass the middle man and get a better price. SST Racing is part of Al Burtoni's place as far as I'm aware.

And someone mentioned and I concur, the wire connectors are the largest part of the burned out fuse block problem. Without addressing the issue of crappy connections the circuits will still overheat. There is also a Bosch Relay Update Reccomended..if you have the relays with metal housings they should be replaced with relays with plastic covers. Especially for the fans and AC circuits.

Wow, they offer a 512 TR distributorless ignition kit... except the 512TR is already direct ignition. (?) Pehaps they mean, TR?

If I could find an upgrade to the timing belt issue I would jump at it since mine is due for it's major Dec 1.

Never seen these before, wonder what the warranty of the fuse panel is? Altho I do have to say that this wouldn't be a panacea for ALL fuse panel problems, as it does not appear that they are replacing the white strip connectors that turn out to be problematic for a majority of us.

At least nice to see that someone is making things (for us TR owners) with thought behind them.

I was searching for a few Racing upgrades and ran across a more robust fuse panel and distributorless ignitions. Anyone buy these?
