Tried the ERA - doesn't work on my car (328).
Contacted the company and got very nice treatment - was offered a refund, but kept it to try to find out why it didn't work.
As a result they will not recommend it for use on Ferraris.

Speaking of speedos - and wildly inaccurate ones like we all seem to have ..
I stumbled upon this little device (made for trucks) which claims to be able to give the capability to dial-in a correction.

Not needed, Peter.

It just surprised me somewhat, as I thought the mysterious "easily-disconnectable" sensor would be much smaller.

Yes Hans, that's the unit. On our GT4's its mounted on top, on later 308's/Mondials/328's its mounted on the bottom.

You wanna see a pic of it???

Is this the kind of large gizmo on the right side of the car, near the engine, but obviously plugs into the gearbox?

I've got such a gizmo with a rather huge hose coming out of it, but if you squish it (the hose), it's obvious that there are a couple of wires in it which run toward the front of the car.

If the car is right side up :-), it can be removed with no problem.

Good idea Steve. Had hoped that someone out there might have replaced the pulse generator and could comment first hand.

mike -- Do you mean with the gearbox running or not running? If it's the "not running" case, you should just be able to eyeball the fill plug level relative to the opening you'd make if the pulse generator was removed to judge. For the running case, I think it might get messy (but I don't know for sure).

If you removed it and the oil then gushed out, then yes. I do not think it will however.

Does anyone know if removing the speedometer pulse generator on a Mondial QV will cause the transmission oil to gush out?
