Thanks, I think that I am going to build the signal divider and run the tach adapter I have now. That seems to be the best solution for me. Thanks again, Dan

I did mine about 6 years ago. Yeah, the coil pack had to be sent back to Electromotive to be modified, and the amplifier will still need to be used. I do remember that Electromotive was a pain in the ass to deal with. It was kind of cool though to see the tach rev so quickly. Good luck Henry |

I sent mine back in Dec '01 and just recieved a new one 2 weeks ago. Here is how to build a tach divider...
U1 is a CD4013 IC Q1 is an NPN transistor Z1 is a 5.1 volt Zener R1 and R2 are 1K ohm resistors R is a 620 ohm resistor |

You could probably send your unit back to electromotive and have them modify it. I think it costs $60. I think you still need the tach amp even w. this upgrade. Is this what others have found? |

When you order an Electromotive system you need to tell the vender it is for a Ferrari 308 with 2-distributors. Electromotive makes an 8-cylinder system that gives the tach signal of a 4-cylinder, just what most of us need. |

When you ordered the unit you should have told them at Electromotive that it was for a Ferrari so they could modify it internally. |

My 308 QV use a 12V tach level signal from the original Marelli ECU, the Electromotive ECU has the same level on the tach output. I speak to Fred at Electromotive and he makes a ECU for 8 Cylinder with 4 Cyclinder tachometer output for me. Dirk |

Dan I bought my kit from Nick Scannia which has the "black box" for making the tach signal work correctly. You might call Nick and see if he'd sell you a box or tell you how to mod yours Philip |

I have an electromotive DIS on my 1979 308. The tach does not work dirrectly with this system. Thus I had to buy a tach adapter. MSD8920 is the tach adapter that I bought. Now the tach works with the system but reads twice as much. The tach's work on a 4 cyl set up, and the Electromotive system sends an 8 cyl signal. Now, my question is for those of you who have adressed the problem of cutting the tach signal in half, how did you do this and what did you use? Thanks, Dan |
