Magoo: You've hit it on the head. I don't like ANY jack stands, but then, I'm just a little paranoid. As for me? I use empty beer bottles. (Hey, I just thru that in for Magoo. <g>) Actually, I use large concrete blocks. No chance whatsoever of anything sliding or slipping, or possibly crushing the 'Great One'. |

Another thought. The reason I don't like the small shaft is not because it won't hold, because direct downward weight, or pressure, on the shaft will be no problem. What scares me is if the pad gets off center toward the outside edges and the weight, pressure, gets to one side, then how strong is the weld to the shaft in the center of the pad???? There obviously will be a lot of strain on the weld joint. |

I agree with you guys and I don't like to use this word but "overkill" comes to mind. I still don't like that small shaft under the pad. The weld can't be a lot holding it. Have these been safety approved? If so who, where and when? They look great but "beauty" is not the keyword here. JMO |

they do look neat, but I do it the cheap way - regular jackstands with towels/rags draped over the top to avoid scratches. this isn't to knock the group buy idea, just an alternative. |

My rachette-type floor jack (6,000lb, and about $30) is spaced in 1/2 inch increments.......the pictured jack stand is spaced about 3 inches.......thus, it would be more difficult to just raise the car slightly. If it sells for more than $20, then it is over-priced!!!!!!! |

I would like to see some lateral straps somewhere low on the legs. The feet look like they would tend to spread out under a heavy load. Looks nice, just depends how much tonnage you're holding up, IMO. |

I guess it is ok but that flat head sitting on top of that small shaft. Not much contact surface there. JMO |

From my last experience in a group purchase (ES bushing), I am going to pass on this thing. |

The Rennlist 993 Forum is doing a group purchase of these high quality jackstands which are made in Denmark. If you are interested you may e-mail me and I will provide you with the specific. The jackstands have a flat top and a rubber pad to protect the car. For anyone wondering Rob has approved this post. Thanks, Ron |
