The fenders are welded to the car. What a drag. I guess it stiffens the whole package, the car seems pretty solid. The fenders are also part of the nose panel, so its one big piece if you want to replace it. |

I believe that I read in an earlier posting that the fenders on 308s are welded to the frames/sub structures. It would sure make for a very strong structure, but what a PAIN to repair. If you had to remove a fender, you have to break out the cutting tools instead of the wrenches. And then break out the welder to reattach the fender. Aarrrggghhhh!!! Maybe that's why Ferrari buyers demand a car with no collision damage. If a common fender bender was repaired improperly, what a mess to redo. |

Poking around underneath the car and especially the trunk, on the GT4 at least, the panels have simple flanges that commonly are spot welded together. These all eventually get spot welded to sheetmetal "outriggers" that they too are spot/fully welded to the frame itself. Its amazing, the GT4 body - in a way - is almost like a unibody. They definitely bare some of the load/forces. Its funny because every one I've seen, all have cracks at the top-corner, out side edges of the rear buttresses! |

I think so as well Paul. I think their bonded in some spots and either rivited or spot welded to the space frame of the car...good question though. anybody else have an idea on this? |

I guess the owner of the crispy 308 might have this answer. I wondered how ferrari mounts the body to the chassis on a 308-328. I keep hearing they are bonded but how? Any pics of this? |
