A little info... The 8.32 uses the Thema gearbox and differential. It is offset and not centralized like the 308. There is an intermediate drive shaft used to connect onet side of the diff to a pllow block the each side uses shorter, equal length half shafts, whereas the 308 uses longer equal length half shafts. The engine / transmission mountings are also considerably different. Shift linkage is musch different as the 8.32 is a front wheel drive car. Exhaust system.....well, that's much different too. Bottom line is that you are going to have to do alot of fitting, measuring and fabrication to marry the two. Jeff Davison |

Steve, actually I did ask a similar question before, and in fact the things I know about this engine I have learned from the responses I got on ferrarichat.com. Thank you. The difference this time is that now I have found a 308 without an engine at all, as well as a complete and running Lancia Thema 8.32. I am looking for more specific details so that I don't buy both cars, get the Lancia apart and realize that I can't use the engine due to a casting difference in the block or something. So if anyone knows for sure if it will bolt in, I would love to hear from you. The idea being that the 308 would not be worth buying or fixing if I were to have to buy a 'real' Ferrari engine for it, and I don't want to end up stuck with an un-salable, engine-less 308 and a useless torn apart Lancia. Brian -- didn't you ask this question before? http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/88927.html Obviously, not exactly interchangeable everywhere and the crank differences must ripple into some ignition differences |

In Europe, there's a car called a Lancia Thema 8.32 that uses a Ducati-built version of the 308 QV's 3.0L 4V V8. Does anyone know if it is actually interchangable with a 'real' Ferrari V8? |
