I've done all of those recommended things like champhering the pads and applying goop. My problem is the rotors themselves are worn out and cannot be turned to make them straight again because they are too thin. They are groved badly and trash new pads when I put them in. I was able to eliminate the squeal on the front just by turning the rotors and putting in new pads. I tried to do the same on the back and discovered the rotors were to thin to cut. Thanks for the info on the parking brake shoes! |

>>This process not only removes heat absorbing/disipating mass from the relatively undersized 348 OEM rotor, but also CREATES stress in the casting which will promote cracking (connecting the dots) under race or track driving conditions. << Depends on how the holes get in the rotor but overall your correct. If the holes are champhered this greatly reduces the tendency towards cracking and crack running. Drilled holes (even with champhers) tend to crack more than rotors with cast holes. Most quality (expensive) cross drilled rotors have champhered edges on the holes for those reasons. For squeal your right about applying 'goop' to the backs of pads, and even dampening plates in some instances. Along with the technique of always champhering the edges of the pads before installing and proper bedding in and curing of the two surfaces after every instalation.. |

For squeal, try using the goop applied to the back of the pads, it's intended to absorb the high frequency vibration of the pads, especially on light application of the brakes. |

Parking brake shoes will most likely be dealer only, they definatly do not come with the pads. Don't use cross drilled rotors for anything other than boring street driving. This process not only removes heat absorbing/disipating mass from the relatively undersized 348 OEM rotor, but also CREATES stress in the casting which will promote cracking (connecting the dots) under race or track driving conditions. Go for the slotted only if you need higher performance. This slotting will "clean" the pad/rotor interface of dust and gas. |

Thanks for the help guys. I'm gettin a bit tired of hearing the brake squeal. I noticed though that no one seems to list the parking brake shoes. I wonder if they come with a set of rear pads or you have to get them seperately? |

Charles-Try www.autosparacing.com. They have cross-drilled Brembo rotors priced relatively inexpensive. |

Call Porterfield Brakes, or look on thier website and inquire. I got a catalog after buying some brake pads from them and they list "OEM" rotors for 348's for $279/ea. |

Does anyone know where to get replacement brake rotors for a 348 other than the dealer? I need to replace the rear rotors on my car! |
