www.GaRedCars.com advertise in FML that they sell such a kit for a 348 altough its not on their web site. If you call them they will tell you all about it.

could you not use a slightly larger perforated black satin grill and leave the old lights behind the grill ,so they light through the grill, but with more of a challenge look to it!

btw, on the converted cars, are the light clusters exactly 355 units? or are they cheaper 'similar' copies? If original 355, what does a set cost?

The plastic rear grill can be done as you can see, but the Challenge grill is more "challenging".

I tried it, but because of the nature of the perforated grill and metal rather than plastic material, I decided it was too labor intensive. Biggest problem was at each end as the two cars have different profiles at the corners. Changing the plastic part is relatively simple compared to the metal Challenge part.

Perhaps there exists a market for a manufacturer to make the investment in tooling. How many of you will buy one if available as a bolt on modification?

Hello Tubi, hello Konig?

I'd love to do that with a perforated style rear grille and 355 lights/brackets, again as long as its entirely reversible. i.e. I'll do it for me because I think it looks better (before the obvious is put, no I couldnt even nearly afford a 355 when I bought my 348) but I wouldn't want to be responsible for spoiling the vehicle for the long term future

I was asking, because I saw what I believe to be a 348 with 355 taillights pass me on the autobahn the other day. I didn't get a good look at the front so I'm not sure, but the side openings were squared off like a 348 even though they had no slats (like a 348 Challenge car, I thought). The mirrors looked like 348 items, as well.

Brian,

Good question, asked before but no answer as yet, I would also like to take this option up when we can unearth a source for grille and lights/mountings etc...provided its entirely reversible that is!
