It's all about the $$$. Seems like you should be allowed to copy your buddies conversion or follow the specs from the manufactuer to do it, and take it for an emission and state inspection test in your state.If it passes why not. Pass is Pass.I guess you'd cut out to many middle men and jobs. |

I found a really nice 348tb here in Germany awhile back, but I was put off by the $25K cost of the conversion to USA specs. I noticed that a wrecked US 348 just sold on eBay for around $22K. It occured to me that such a car could possibly be used as a parts car to convert a Euro car to US specs, and then the rest of the car could be sold piece by piece to recoup some of the investment. So my question is this, if someone were to buy a nice European Ferrari, import it to the USA and use a wrecked US-market Ferrari as a source of parts, could they legally convert the Euro car to US specs privately? |
