>>>Did these cars have factory undercoating on the belly pans?<< Sure did. Also, the Factory Owners Handbook/Service Manuels say to check and touch up whenever neccesary. At least once a year. |

William, I used a large peice of oak that covered the diff-housing to put my floor jack against to spread the load. Has anyone ever damaged their car doing this? |

are you guys serious?!?!?!?!?! jacking on the bottom of the engine?? arent you worried about crashing through the aluminum? I cringe of just the thought. there are two rectangular sections that run for/aft on each side of the powerplant. the lower a-arms go into these. I put my jack under the left, then the right to bring the rear end up to where I want it. I guess you could get a metal support that could span across and you could jack directly in the middle. for the front I jack right where the lower a-arms go into the frame. I had to make aluminum inserts for my jack stands so they dont marr the metal frame. I usually jack one side way up at a time. |

Well....I managed to get the car off it's feet. I built some ramps when I had my ZR-1 so I could get clearance for running a floor jack under the car. They worked as well for the Testarossa. I wheeled the jack way under the front end to a crossmember just behind the front suspension framework. In the rear I used the trans-axle. You know the ZR-1 would make strange creaking noises sometimes when jacking it up, but this car is solid as a rock. Did these cars have factory undercoating on the belly pans? If not I plan on removing as much of it as possible. The car looks good underneath except for the area just behind the front spoiler. There the panels are dented a bit. I'm considering hammering them out or replacing them, they don't look to be difficult to reproduce. Boy...you guys are right about removing those center-lug nuts, they are a bear! Using my handy-dandy homemade socket and a breaker bar that was 6 feet long, all of my 190 pounds bouncing on it barely broke the nuts loose! |

Most professional quality floor jacks will fit under the sides. There is a specific jack point on each side that will lift the entire side. Use a 2x4 to cushion, and you should be able to lift in one opperation, high enough to place a jack stand both behind the front wheel and ahead of the rear wheel, being careful not to crush the area under the radiators. You can place the rear jack stand directly on the frame tube. You're correct, there is no suitable place to jack under the front of the car. Jacking on the gearbox with wood protection, also works great for quick manoeuveres in the garage. |

Same for me -- raising one end is: raise one side, support at one corner, lower, raise the other side, support at other corner. |

I think you'd be better off just going side to side in 3 or 4 steps. Most floorjacks aren't low enough to get to a middle support member in front once the rear is raised. |

I would like jack the car up and get the wheels off for a thorough detailing, and other chores. Is it possible to jack the car up one end at a time, or must it be side to side? I would like to use the big jack and place it under the trans-axle with a hunk of wood to protect it, would this work? The front end....I have no idea. It doesn't look like there is any place in the center to lift. What have you other Testarossa guys done in this situation? Thanks; Jeff |
