On all cars with fuel injection (even CIS), be careful as the fuel pressure can remain fairly high (>40 PSI) for a long period of time (1-12 hours) after shut off. Just keep a rag handy and wrap it around the first fitting you loosen on each filter... and wear eye protection. |

I think he was referring to the ~5/8 fuel hose coming out of the tank, so that no more gas would make it's way through the pump, accumulator, and then to the oil filter "in" line. 308s have steel braided to near the filter. |

Changed the filters. Lines on this '89 TR are braided steel on both ends, so no clamp can be used. However, the only fuel spillage was that conatined in the filters themselves, so it's just a matter of removing the lines and holding the filter level as you withdraw it. |

Magoo had the trick of clamping the hose to prevent the gas from spilling out. Its in that thread. This also has been on here before, its in the archives (Keyword Search...) |

Greg Rodger's (JoeChristmas) recent fuel pump tech questions had some procedures posted from Bret on how to do this. Just last week, should be on this current list, scroll down Tech Q&A... I'm not sure, but I think the Baldwin filter #BF661 can also be used on the TR (check their site http://www.baldwinfilters.com). |

Planning to change fuel filters on an '89 TR. Anyone have a suggestion or tip? Was wondering about prevention of large fuel loss or spill. |
