YOSHI I LIVE IN GEORGIA. IT'S HOT HERE IN THE SUMMER. PICKING UP A LITTLE TAR IS ALMOST TO BE EXPECTED. AS FOR SAP HAVE THAT TO. I'VE TRIED ALL THE FANCY STUFF. THE BEST THING I HAVE FOUND IS LIQUID TURTLE WAX. I KNOW IT SOUNDS SIMPLE BUT GIVE IT A TRY IT IS REAL CHEAP. |

Sam, I use the "Leatherique" products -- "Rejuvinator Oil" and "Prestine Clean" They are good for any leather & vinyl surfaces. |

Sam, I normally use the MOTHERS' "Back to Black" for both targa top and roof spoiler. It brings back the "black" color to it. And, I find it not too greasy or shiny. |

Don't want to hijack this thread but it is related...what do you guys use on teh BLACK louvers, targa top and spoiler on your cars.... I would like to keep it clean and protective but also keep it matte and not shiny or greasy. |

Thanks for your prompt inputs. The tar and/or sap on my cars are so hard and normal chemicals do not seem to work. I need the chemical so powerful yet kind to the paint. Should I ask a professional detailer to take care of this problem? |

Yoshi, Ive had pretty good success with One Grands Bug/Tar/Tree Sap remover. You can find it at Pep Boys Auto Parts. I put a little on a damp cotton cloth and rub lightly, then rinse with auto shampoo (Griots or Zymol) immediately afterwards. It seems to be paint sensitive. You have to remove tree sap immediately; once it hardens its alot tougher to get off. |

If it is tree sap then water is your best bet. Tar comes off with Kerosene. |

I need some help on the paint for my 85 308GTS QV (Metallic Black). I am the second owner of this Italian piece of arts and have been trying to remove what seems to be the old tar and/or old sap, which are on the fenders and on the hood. In spite of trying many different removers, nothing really worked. I really do not want to hurt the paint. Please help! |
