Yoshi, as Rob said it is a tedious proceedure in adjusting the striker but try it before major door alignments. It probably will eliminate the problem. Let us know. Be sure you use the correct size wrench.

ok, so it's not closing, but it shuts completley before it bounces right back at you... the striker is probably not aligning to lock the device in the actual door to keep it shut. You can look at it and play with to see what I'm talking about. There are either 2 or 3 positions it goes into and locks, when you pull up on the door handles, then that device will open. There's a little notch on that device that the stiker has to catch in order to push it back in the locked position upon closing. Just adjust the stiker as Magoo said. It's a pain, because you have to fully tighten it before you can test it, it's a bunch of fine adjustments.

When the door bounces back without ever making it to the full closed position, then that's usually the device in the door already being in the closed position and not a problem with the striker.

good luck.

Adjust the latch up or down or out, whatever it takes to align it. I would do that before I made any major door alignments.

Rob and Jeff, thanks for your advices and potential root cause of the problem. It is kind of difficult to describe this problem. I do not recall pushing down the door as I get out of the car and did not notice the door to be out of its nomral position, meaning it does not hung down. But, one thing I have noticed was that it tends to close more when I tried to close it with the door knob being lifted (as you open the door from outside). As for describing the symptom, it is almost like the door bounces back without making any ugly latch metal banging sound. The similar problem happened to my 90 Porsche 928S4 as well. I just don't get it?!

The drivers side door did it on my 308. I adjusted the door jamb striker out about 1/8 of a inch by loosening the four screws holding it in place. Be sure you use the right size hex head or you will strip the heads out. They are soft. Also lightly lube the lock assembly with white grease.

Your very right Rob, it is hard to describe this. I was having problems on how to word it.

Is it the latch that is not working, moving? Does it close depending on how hard you shut it?

I have also noticed sometimes, that the doors are difficult to close on mine. I have seen it on Ferraris and all kinds of other sport cars that are low to the ground and hard to get in and out of. Lot of times it is from people trying to get out of the car and when they do so they tend to push down on the door for support and it puts a lot of stress on the door hinges and can bend them.
When you shut the door look and see if the door actually moves up a little when closing it. Or when it is closed look and see if it drops when opening.
If this is what is happening, I have heard of a couple of ways to try and fix it, but none of which I would ever try my self. I hope this helps for a least solving why it may of happened, I just dont have a fix.

Does it close all the way and not catch or stops several inches from being closed? I had a similar problem and it was with the device on the car frame being loose and requiring adjustment. Also, the device on the actual door sometimes locks in place, which is when it won't close and actually stops inches away from full close.

dang it, now I've confused myself, it's not the easiest thing to describe.

I have the 85 308GTSi QV, and it door sometimes does not close. Have you experienced this problem? I have tried many things to make it close and was able to close it somehow. But, I have no idea what causes the door not closing and makes it close. Any tip you can give me about this problem will be very much appreciated!
