Hans: It's Itali-Ferrari-speak for "solenoid valve". In this case, it's a vacuum control solednoid (on/off). |

Ric Thank you a lot. Nice to know they can be found considering no Ferrari parts dealers seem to stock them. |

Turn off the battery and use an ohmmeter to measure from the "cold" side of the fuse to ground. If you get zero, or a very small reading (<1 ohm), then there's a short somewhere. If so, disconnect each device that the circuit serves until the reading returns to a higher value. The electrovalves can be "ohmed" independently if you disconnect them. They should be in the 2-8 ohm range (I think). The electrovalves can be sourced in the aftermarket for a much better price, but I forget the other application(s). Seems like I got some from a Chevy application of some sort for about $15 and they were 100% identical to the OEM units. Sorry, I don't remember more than that. I just took one in to a Chief Auto Parts and they found one from their stock.

I am having a problem with a fuse that constantly blows when the ignition key is turned on (second from left). I had the wiring diagram blown up at an Office Max. I am attempting to trace the source. The diagram leads me to the dash and the electrovalves. Dash doesn't seem to be the problem at this point. Anyone know about the electrovalves operation and where to get replacements? I looked in all the usual places. F Owners Site parts area doesn't make it clear on their diagrams. |
