Since this post is still alive, I'll add something which I don't know is true. My painter (Ferrari body expert) told me that 308s had tape on the beltline and 328s have black paint. Since he used to own my 328, and paints plently of 328s, you would think he knows what he is talking about. I don't know... |

Peter, My dealer gave me a bottle that is a perfect match to the red. I have used it on 4-5 Ferraris and it seems to blend in better than anything that I have used on small rock chips and the vents on the front. It is available through; Amato's European Motor Car Restoration 10457 Roselle St, Suite K San Diego, Calif 92121 619.455.6715 Good Luck ! Robert Mann |

Jim, I had the top smoothed and painted on my car too... see profile picture. I do like the roof spoiler staying in black, though.

For touch up paint try http://www.paintscratch.com/. They have most Ferrari colors at a reasonable price. I am in Tampa also and may be of some help to you. |

What seems strange is that the beltline is protected better than the rest of the car. Why so much chipping? |

Peter, I'm just in the process of planning that Modena trip. Gotta go there while they're still racing at Imola! Friend of mine has one of those Vespas. Fully restored and the matching shoes and helmet. He buzzes around Hollywood on it. Even starred in a minor movie production with it. I know they're a lot of fun. |

Andreas I just got off the phone with the parts exchange and guess what..It's the same Lyle Tanner contact that Todd posted. Nice guys and it should ship today for $25. Thanks! Actually it's an Italian name. Still have relatives living close to Modena. Have never been over there but it's a must trip someday. Hope to be able to rent a couple of Vespas and check out the local sights. Have 2 restored Piaggio Vespas now and love buzzing around on them. Plus they look great in the garage next to the Ferrari. So much Italian design. Let's order a Pizza! :-)

The previous owner of my car had the top sanded and painted, and also had the spoiler sanded and painted. If I ever buy another targa, I'll do the same thing. I love the look and never really cared for the textured black covering on the spoiler and top. |

Peter, did you check out the Ferraripartsexchange link? Aren't those the same for a lot less (25)? Alternatively you could just sneak up on a 308/328 and steal them at the next event...Just kidding! But seriously, the suckers don't stay put (unless you glue them in) and so you even have the risk of loosing them afterwards. Bummer. BTW: May I ask you what nationality you are? With that 'li' ending I would have guessed Swiss. |

Thanks for the information guys! Todd my mirrors look like yours so I'll give Lyle at try. Thanks Jim E. love the looks of your car with the top painted white. Did you sand and paint the original top or is it a replacement that was smooth to begin with? Andreas I found them on Italian Parts but it looks like they are around $40. just for a little cap. Aren't these Ferrari's wonderful? My beltline looks like it's paint and not tape so I am going to try touching up with flat black. Thanks for the suggestions! |

3/4 tape works fine. You can get it at any auto paint supplier.

Peter, Be careful on the mirror cap hunt...most places try to make you buy the whole kit instead of the single piece you need. I went through this 3 mos ago and found that Lyle Tanner Ent. sells the pieces individual. Call them at 408.364.0881 Cheers! |

Have recently purchased a 328GTS and have some rock chips to touch up and some peeling? of the black beltline strip. F of Atlanta told me that the beltline is tape but not available anymore. Can't seem to find Glasurit dealer in my area. (Tampa/St Pete) Also looking for little plastic cover for rear screw of drivers side mirror. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
