Thanks Carlo, I did not call yet, but hope to be able to call you soon to thank you in person. Things are crazy here in the office and I am leaving to Europe in a few days. Thanks Dan; the fax did help a great deal. My wife left today for Germany and she will buy these parts Monday at the dealer. What I did not understand is why they charged you for 2 oilflters? Thanks to everyone on this site. You guys are great help. |

Martin, I sent you a fax that shows the parts used for my 30k service. Let me know if it came through OK. There were only two pages. Please note that the Tensioner bearing service is in addition to the 30k service. Do not skip this step. I have been informed by many before me who have done 30k service that skipping the tensioner bearing service can cause you alot of grief. There are updates that need to be done during the 30k service. An independent shop might not have all the tools to do the cylinder head drain holes update properly. This update is for fixing an oil drain issue. There is a template for drilling these holes. The independent Francorchamps that first attempted to do this update failed to complete it because they either did not know where to drill, or were not fully informed as to what all was involved with the update. Make sure you quiz the technician who is going to do this service for you about the update needed for the 30k. Good luck! Dan |

Dan; hmmmmm, I will check this again with the provider. There may be something fishy going on. Still interested in the parts list. yes! Fax: 305-867-7901 Concerning the manuals. Did not get your check yet. Anyhow, the books are at the printer anyway, I ran out of them. Had some more people ask me for them. Will ship the end of this week. |

Martin, There is no To: address. Did you leave it off when you created the below message or was that the way it came back to you. If the message came back to you with no To: address then we can assume it is being stripped off somewhere between your post office and server07.the-beach.net. You may need to call your ISP to work with their tech support department. I'll call you later this afternoon to see if you still want me to fax the major service parts list and to check the status of the manuals. Dan |

Just imagine Ferrari made airplanes.... |

Sam: I agree its ridiculous but there is an upside -- especialy with an airplane (don't know much about boats). If you are in there the main cost is labor getting to the part most times -- so changing a part with say 500 to 800 hours on it is worth it because now there is a warranty on the new part and if something goes wrong within the system the next 500 - 800 hours or 2 years -- it is worth the price. Luckily rebuilt parts on airplanes come with excellent warranties as well. Sometimes even better than new parts warranties. Spending 3K in such expeditures have saved me 15K plus in repairs the past 2 years alone. And I treat my TR like an airplane maintenance wise so..... Ok -- I confess to be crazy too. |

I am all too familiar with that now. I too find it surprising that the waterpump is thrown away in 348's. The old 308's (mine), used a small-bearing pump and they tended to wear out from the belt tension. With mine, I just put in new bearings, rolls fine now. With the QV and 328 motors, they used larger bearings to take up the load and I'm sure they upgraded the seal too. Now we come to the next evolution of the Ferrari 3-series and the 'pumps can't even last 40K. What's up with that? |

Am I the only one or is this crazy.. replacing (not even rebuilding!!) a working waterpump after 30K! I know...I did the same thing -we get into this situation 'cause the labor is a given when we drop the engine...some things I did as well...new fuel flters, new fuel lines, I did an oil-pump upgrade -- there is a service notice on this and there is an upgrade to some oil pumps. Oher things as well, new belt tensioners, new belt cam gears ( I found one that was not right so replaced them)I replaced power steering hoses and most hoses that were int he front of the engine there -- it was ridiculous, doing all this work replacing over priced good components simply 'cause I had the engine out..I have a boat and this is called "shiprights disease" -- you never know when to stop! |

Carlo; thanks will call you when you guys are in. Danny; same old probelm. You are the only one that can not receivce e-mails from me. It's a conspiracy! The e-mail-Files! Guess we have to stick to the posts then! Mark; thanks, I had planned on that waterpump anyway. Read your post in another subject and true, that makes perfect sense to replace parts that will go bad and for which you have to get the engine out anyway. I was not thinking of spending bare. I want to car to run good. I drive the car every day, so it needs to be reliable. So far so good. |

Don't skimp on the 30k. I bought my 348ts with 37,500, and got to redo a 30k at 40k when the waterpump failed. The previous owners 30k was only $1,500.00, but didn't include anything on the waterpump, and didn't appear to adjust the valves. Basically just plugs, filters, acc belts and a cam belt. When the water pump failed at 40k I had to redo the whole 30k, inlcuding a valve adjustment, which revealed that several were out of spec. Is a 30k supposed to include a waterpump? Also, I had hoped my waterpump could be rebuilt, but discovered after a couple weeks that it could not, and had to buy a new one. Anyway, car runs great now, and I've got a fresh 30k. Mark |

I would like to know what parts have been exchanged. That should be on your invoice...yes, the big one! I know they do belts and waterpump but it would be great if you have the parts by part number so I can order them in Europe before my trip and then just pick them up at the dealership! Would be great if you could fax your old invoice or just run a list with the parts they used. Anything helps. Again, my offer I have a copy of the parts manual and the workshop manual V1 and V2, if anybody is interested...e-mail me. |
