Darn Bret, you spoiled the surprise! J.
I should stress that guys don't wear bikinis, but speedos.
Since I've spent the last couple of months in the garage, I haven't seen the sun in a while.... I'm a little too pale to be posing nude beside a black Ferrari (the contrast would destroy the imaging equipment).

Peter, tell her you're gonna send you one of you in a bikini next to the 308, but then when you send it, send one of the naked next to it. Girls always love little surprises like this. Shhh, dont tell her though that you're gonna do it.

Peter,

Just like everyone else, Im really impressed by your skill and determination. You should really be proud of yourself, especially on that first drive! I wish I had the patience, time, and knowledge but for now I have to content myself with cosmetic work.

Damn;
that looks like heart surgery. Well, it is more or less, right?
Impressive to say the least. Having 2 left hands myself I admire people that work on their cars just like you. The engine of a car is a mystery to me. I know that something is burning in there and the explosion is moving something else. That is my technical understanding of an engine.

I am impressed! Keep us updated. These photos are great. Gives you a visual on things. Hope that others will use pictures as well. Put your cars in your profiles for the first!

Thanks guys for your compliments. I'm still looking forward to the day when it'll be ready to fire up, believe me I'm double-checking not just hoses but everything.

Erik, its actually particle board, has to be substantial. Not that I'm worried about paint chips, but the rear window is over $700.... if you can find one!

Rob, make sure you have a nice big garage for your 308 project. As you can see by mine, its packed with crap, the trunk was filled on day one of the project.

I'll continue my updates as I go along.

Once again congrats Peter. You standing there beside your baby and looking like a proud Papa gives us all inspiration. It goes to show that if you have some grease in your veins the desire, ambition and the drive to accomplish what sometimes seems impossible, with determination it can be done. Good luck, wish I could be there to enjoy the first fire up of your project. Keep us posted.

Congrats, your satisfaction will justify your effort as the engine first roars to life. I am waiting on a fuel tank sender gasket- then my engine is on its way in. I like the padded cardboard- good idea I will use. Please double check each and every hoseclamp.

You're an inspiration. My goal within a few years is to buy a 308 that needs a bunch of love and go through every little part. I can't think of anything much more satisfying.

Peter this whole thing is impressive to say the least. I think this is the first time I have seen your car in any of the pictures, it's really nice looking. Good work.

Looks like you are doing a great job. If it runs as well as it looks you will have a machine to be proud of. Every time I start mine I get the sense of satisfaction that I put together every nut and bolt in it and that it works with flawless precision. I have put about 500 miles on mine now and it has yet to use any oil. That blows Ferrari's stand that high oil consumption is normal. It was just a cop out to cover up their flaws at your expense.

I did it this evening, got the engine back in the car. I still can't figure out why it was so much harder this time. It took about six trys before it would go in without hanging-up on something. Ended up lifting it right from behind the engine, so that it would clear (as when I took it out, did it from the same position as Herbert, the front cylinder bank).

I'm just happy its back in. I never want to take this thing out again.
