Verell, Just to the right, toward pass. side, of center of the rear panel in the luggage compartment the strap is attached to the flange that runns along the top of the panel. If yours is missing you will probably see where the metal bracket on the strap was spot welded to the flange, If you have the old one or another one you can drill the flange and insert small nut and bolt or maybe pop rivet the bracket on to the flange. Also another way to tell where it was is a small bracket on the bottom of the trunk floor where the end of the strap fits in to lock it down. There was only one strap. |

OK, just where do I look for the strap & bracket it hooks into on an early 308 QV? Also, is it straps? or just 1 strap for both the tool & jack kits? I took a look a while back & couldn't find any strap. |

I just bought a 328. Missing the tools & jack. I've started shopping around and was asked what color jack I wanted. What was correct for a '86? Or does it matter- maybe this is one of those "whatever they had on the shelf the day it was put togethor" things. Nobody is giving tool & jack kits away that's for sure. |

I store mine on top of the spare wheel, as far forward as possible. This also (I keep telling myself) gives a better weight distribution. |

Carl, All of my 328's have had the strap in the zippered compartment between the tail lights. Unfortunately, it did not stay where it was supposed to go so as it did slide about somewhat so I put the jack set as well as the tool set inside the rim of the spare and put the yellow Ferrari stickers on both. They looked quite nice sitting there. TTFN Robert |

My car 77669 (June 88) lacks strap. Do folks usually put the tools under the spare tire (mine is mounted exterior-up) or wrapped in towel in the front semicircular recess above the spare? Thanks again, Carl |

Maybe your car has that bracket already there. If so just drill the flange of the rear panel where the strap goes secure and install. |

Guys, Just remember if you put the strap on, it has to hook in a small bracket which is on the floor of the rear panel to secure the strap end. |

Let's bracket this sucker; my 87 number 73625 does not have it. So it's somewhere between 67523 and 73625. |

Carl, I know 88's & 89's came w/o strap. Apparently some very late 87's are also without. I had an early one built 12/86 I believe that had the strap. Also, I noticed the contour of the inside of the trunk also changed somewhere along the way. It is unfortunate, it was useful not just for tools, but securing other items where the strap could go through a handle. Dave |

Perhaps one could purchase a tool strap (w/ all related hardware) for an earlier model, and retrofit on your 328? I noticed that the owners.ferrari site has vintage parts for 328's also. |

Matt is correct. On my 308 the strap came loose from where it was spot welded. I drilled a hole where the spot weld was and used a pop rivet to re-attach it. |

Appreciate everyone's input. After close inspection of the trunk - no strap in sight. Parts manual lists "until 5/31/87". I'll replace tool/jack under under spare wrapped in towel & owners manual as advised. I find it curious the factory changed what seemed to be a very functional arrangement. How were the late 328s delivered new? Thanks once again, Carl |

Funny, my 87 does not have a strap. I guess it was removed by a previous owner(??). Can this be replaced, and how much? In liew of the strap, I keep the tool roll and jack pouch in the front with the spare. Thanks. |

Early 328's also had the strap, but 88-89 dont. In my 89 I stuff the jack and tool roll up front between the spare and fiberglass cover. They stay put, even drove it on a track once with them which is no no, but I forgot about them. Wrap them in a cotton sheet or similar to keep the vinyl covers from scuffing. The owners manuals fit in a pocket in the back of passenger seat. Dave |

I keep the tool roll and jack roll in the front on top of the spare tire. The owner's pouch goes behind the passenger's seat. Older 328s have a strap in the trunk. |

Not sure about the 328 but on the 308 there is a rubber strap that holds the kit in place between the taillights. |

Hi again everyone, Thanks to all for advice on paint; FoH is going to mix & send some along. Although the car is fifteen it appears to have lived most of its life indoors under cover so paint fade is likely minimal. New topic - three tool pouches + owner's manual puch came in trunk: tool roll, jack roll, and trouble light. Is there a way to secure/fasten these to prevent bouncing around while driving? Once in the past (on another car, thank goodness) had a heavy object in trunk that shifted & dented rear quarter panel out from inside. What would you reccomend? Thanks again, Carl |
