Carl, The noise that I have had in the past was caused by a lack of grease or lubricant on the door stop arm. I first put grease in the notches, as well as far in the back that I could reach, then used a lube spray to reach the back and to use the pressure to move some of the lube to the back. It worked on two 328's and no more problems after that. TTFN Robert |

Usually the noise that I hear is a "popping" noise which comes from 2 things. Either the bolts or nuts that hold the door stop in the front door jamb are loose or a problem with the pin that connects to the door. Either the pin is broken (which sometimes you have to drive it out to see this) or too much play in the hole that the pin fits in. |

Hello again, As I continue to attend to all details of this car, have noticed a "cracking" noise when opening the driver's door fully that I suspect is the "S" tension spring in the hinge requiring lubrication. Removed the door jamb plate but the spring hinge assembly looks quite inacessible. How does one properly lubricate? Thanks again, Carl |
