I agree with F-Joe and Ed,

If you CAN rebuild/resurface (can't always), I would do that for less $ first before I ever ordered a stock clutch pack/kit for more $.

It just amazes me, the talent and resourcefulness you guys have. Your really breaking the rules of Ferrari maintenance, in that it is supposed to cost thousands of dollars. I would think that over time and enough stories like these, and the right people reading them, that prices for parts and service in the U.S. would have to drop.

FerrariJoe,

That-a-Boy ,, ,, That's how I did my clutch last summer.
I ahd a local tractor shop do the clutch disc rebuild. Cost me only $50.00

Then I did the resurfasing of the flywheel myself. My'n didin't need machining, just a light sanding. .. . . Presto , a new clutch job for about $100.00 ha ha

Remember to replace the rear main seal. $4.50 at the local NAPA... . . Take in your old one.

Adam,

I did my clutch myself back in spring. The most critical measurement is the thickness of the disc relining. You will need 1.4mm space between 4 contact points with the clutch pedal fully pressed to allow disengagement. Your WSM has a diagram of the thickness:

1. Flywheel to front clutch disc.
2. Front clutch disc to center ring.
3. Center ring to rear clutch disc.
4. Rear clutch disc to pressure plate surface.

I had the flywheel, center ring and pressure plate resurfaced a machine shop. Once this was done, I knew the thickness needed for the disc. I had the discs relined at a local clutch and brake supplier. This cost $298 for all.

I bought my throw out & pilot bearings, rear main seal, slave-cylinder seal, transfer case seals and exhaust donuts from George Evans for about $376.

Total $674.00 and I did all the work.

If you need pictures of the process, email me for them.

Joe

I'm sure he will do it. But, I would have a new main seal put in while he is in there.

Are you just looking for just the disk or the whole assembly T/O bearing, PP and disk?
