Sorry, I'm messing this up. Anyone have any ideas. I reduced the image size, but that only reduced the quality of the picture not the size.
Rob: This is a great site and I appreciate your maintenance and creation here.

Just read the formatting routines, trying them out. If I can't upload with the larger jpeg, I'll reduce it. This is my 86 328: 1986 328 GTS: NJ.

I found the code looking up not down as before: Thanks Rob for your help: Cotty: Appreciate your comments, you are halfway across the country and I'm not sure we have a 'Mr Vinyl' here in New Jersey. I ordered a touchup paint from 'paintscratch.com recommended by Craig, I'll let you know how it works out, he seems to like it. The car has been always kept indoors.
I called Robert's suggestion, in California, however they ask me to come in and I told them the cross country drive wouldn't work well for me.
I appreciate all you comments and conversations:

The best way is to find a paint store with a computer system that can code your paint by reading it from a part from your car. That way you take into consideration fading, and get a exact color match.

I recently chipped the top edge above the windshield as I was putting the top back on my 328. I called Algar Ferrari and their parts dept. said Ferrari doesn't make touch up paint. I called my mechanic here in Minneapolis who had recently chipped his Testarossa. He directed me to a franchise called, believe it or not...Dr. Vinyl. Dr. Vinyl & I got together and he mixed me a bottle of paint and fixed the ding. I don't remember the brand, but it's one we have all heard of. He experimented with the mix until he got it just right, we did it in direct sunlight. Total cost for the patch up and the extra paint was $49.95 and worth it.

Me again, The paintscratch web seems to be the best. As I am still waiting for some paperwork on the car, would anyone be able to tell me where on the vehicle the color is located: 1986 328 GTS.
Thanks again for your help John A.

I have to say that the paint I ordered matches very good-- at least what my eyes can see!

John, A Ferrari dealer gave me a small bottle of Ferrari red touch up paint that came from AMATO'S EUROPEAN MOTOR CAR RESTORATION & BODY WORK SPECIALISTS. Their address is 10457 Roselle St. Suite K, San Diego, Calif 92121. Phone (619)455-6715. This has always been a perfect match over various red Ferraris.

Good Luck

Robert

You're right Dave. When I tried to order paint from a Ferrari Dealer he said that the touch ups don't work especially on the red cars because of intensity changes over the years. A good paint store should be able to take a headlight ring or some part off your car and pick up a code with their computer. That is what I had to do when I needed touch up. It saves time and trouble and it matches.

What I would do is go to a high end bodyshop in your area and have them mix some paint to match your car....
Remember, your car is now 15 years old and has faded slightly with age from the stock color.
Good Luck with it......

Bought a 1986 Red/Tan 328 GTS in showroom condition: 16000 miles on it. I do have a few small dings and because I like to drive, can expect more: I can't find touchup paint and wondered if anyone might know where I can get my hands on some:
I also own a modified and restored 1978 Trans Am WS6/W72: I found black paint for that one, hope I can for the Ferrari.
Look forward to hearing from someone. Thanks, JOHN
