John, One cold morning my 328 "burped" the black rubber baffle out as it was cranking and I have never replaced it. I could see no need for it either. TTFN Robert Mann |

Hmm, I'll have to look at mine today. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that before though. And I've had the entire ductwork off several times. |

Definitly two different things. Now that I know what you are talking about I feel stupid. In the same air tunnel, where it takes a bend, you can stick your arm in the intake from the outside passenger side (all the way) and pull out a rubber/foam baffle about the size and shape of a full fanny pack. It is yellow/white. This is what I thought James was talking about. Anyhow, it just sits there and reduces the volume of air allowed to visit the airbox bellows. Go ahead & pull that joker out. Your car will sound better. It's like the same dif as when you add a K&N, which I also have. Per Ferrari mechanics, it is supposed to "harmonize the air intake" or something. Another rumor was that the baffle was supposed to eliminate a high-speed wind howl. But when I'm going under 120mph, the car sure sounds like it's getting more air and I have noticed no vibration, howling or extra heat. |

I'm not quite sute what part you are asking about. I am talking about the rubber boot that connects the right side air intake scoop to the air cleaner top. This piece offers absolutely no baffling/resistence to air flow. We are probably talking about 2 different things here. Dave |

I'm not asking about the black fiberglass tunnel. What is the purpose of the rubber "space filler" air baffle thing? |

Well, 1.You are sucking super hot air from inside the engine compartment. 2.You lose the "ram-air" effect created when the side scoop if functional. |

Why??? I removed my bellows so I'd get more air. It's louder too. Why would you want one? |

I bought the rubber one from Ferrari of Houston for around $60 about 2 years ago if I recall correctly.Actually, I have been quite fortunate in that everything I have looked for so far at the dealers has been available. Dave |

Some 308/328 parts that are not available through the FNA dealer network are (surprisingly) available on-line through the Ferrari Owner's website.... |

Rod, If you found a place to buy the inlet duct for $95, let me know exactly where. Unless FNA has re-released this part, it is made of unobtainium. As far as I know, there are a couple versions for the 328. The first is a screen version that is wrapped in foam and then a thin black plastic covering. They fall apart instantly and most who own them suffer from all of the material being sucked into the air filter. The other I've seen is more or less a plastic/rubber version that seems to hold up better. I rebuilt my "foam" version with new foam and thin plastic that is heat-shrunk over the inlet. It was very time consuming but I'm pleased with the results- and so were the judges in Carmel last year! Again, if you find these, let me know! |

I bought one for my 308 some months ago from Dennis McCann. I seem to remember that it was $40.00 give or take. I checked back with the sight and discovered the price is now $62.00. While that's certainly better than $95.00, it's still offensive. It seems like a part that could be fairly easily adapted from another car. At the moment though I'm at a loss as to what kind. Sorry I can't be of more help. -Rod |

The air duct bellows in front of my air filter that comes in from the passenger side is shot $95.oo from Ferrari, aftermarket is not much better, I would pay 30.00 which is overpriced but this is a freakin rip off! this must be a $8.00 part, does anyone know the dimensions or a hose/bellows mfr that has the correct size? It appeared also to have a larger end on one side, I have not retaken it out for measurements is this true also? Thanks in Advance |
