Optima Orange-Top fits my 308QV perfectly due to the reversed terminal design as Frank points out. Tons of cranking power. |

Optima Red Top. Pep Boys has them... cheap too. BTW, I believe the posts were on the wrong side of the battery but my cables had no problem reaching the posts. |

Doug, Optima only makes a couple "universal" sizes, so take measurments, note the location of the pos/neg terminals, and confirm off their website. Then post back here on what you find out! :-) |

Thanks for the Optima suggestion. Any idea as to the part number and/or do they have a listing for Ferrari 328? |

For longest life, most folks switch to the Optima battery. www.optimabatteries.com They seem to have the longest life, are totally sealed from leakage, and even if the case cracks, will not leak acid...not a gel cell, but use a acid paste, that is spiral wound. They are now sold at Costco, so you can get them at discount. I think around $100 at Costco, about $120 to $130 everywhere else. CCA is the important number, and as long as it is over 650 CCA you should be fine. I would be careful about trying to change the weight distribution of the 328/308. I have heard from those that track their cars that when they removed the spare tire, jack and tool kit from the front of their late model 328 (jack and tools were stored up front on the later cars) it made the car understeer more.... |

I'd be interested in knowing if these days there's any kind of a lightweight battery replacement out on the market. Seems a waste to have to use the typical overweight box... |

Please let me know what is the correct battery (Interstate, Sears Die Hard, etc.) for my '88 328. I currently have an Interstate Mega-tron in the car which needs to be replaced, but can not read the i.d. number. It is, however, a 685 CCA, 855 CA. I would like to replace it with the same, but can't find a reference on the Interstate website. |
