Hook up battery and started my car to check the cam-driven vac. pump. At idle, there was no vacuum generated per my gauge. Also checked by the "finger" method, no suction. Is the pump always generating vacuum or only at certain rpm's? I'll start looking for a new one unless I hear different. |

Hmmm....my car has that pump. I expected it to be bigger, but that little thing is it huh? On my car the nipple has a plug on it. And the hose is routed to the "add on" electric pump. Something must be wrong with my pump or they wouldn't have rigged up this electric one. I'm thinking of starting my car up and checking to see if it makes suction. So I assume the line coming from the cam-driven pump goes to the vacuum cannister that is supposed to be in the left-rear fender area? And the smaller line from the left intake plenum also goes there? And from there a line goes up front to run brakes and climate controls? There must be some type of regulator, where does this fit into the system? I'm starting to get that uneasy feeling about my car.... |

It seems that my TR is missing the vacuum pump that is driven off the exhaust cam on the left bank. Instead my car has an electric pump mounted under the left rear fender area. I want to make the car correct, can some kind soul post a pic or two of their vacuum pump? Also, where to find such an animal? |
