Just F.Y.I....I removed the electric vacuum pump from my TR. It is a Delco unit made in mexico! I hooked a battery up to see how it works, and man does that thing make vacuum!! But the drawback is it sounds like a Viet-Nam era Huey coming in for a landing. So if it was working on the car, I'm sure the previous owner unhooked it due to the crappy sounding noise the thing makes. I hate things rigged up, it will actually be cheaper when I get the new factory parts installed than this darn elect. pump cost! Why are some people soooo stupid! |

Took my old vac. pump off, the drive shaft had broken. This pumps drive shaft is splined and goes into the end of the exhaust cam. The shaft broke right at the point where the splines start. NOTE: if the shaft breaks there can be some particles and debris created, which can flow back into the valve cover area and screw up the exhaust cam and/or valves in some manner. This is just my uneducated .02 worth. I can see that when I'm done getting my car "up to standards" I'll be pretty knowledgeable on TR's. |

I called Algar Ferrari and ordered a new pump and gasket.....price delivered is just under $400 bucks. Ouch! Oh well, what you gonna do? Now for the one-way valve and reservoir I will do some searching domestically. Suggestions anyone? |
