Well, I was hoping for a different answer, but I think you had better correct the problem pronto. Before any more comments can be made about the repair you will have to find out if the rust has gone through to the backside of the panel. Sounds like it may have, about 2"s up on the panel. Water probably laid there and did not drain out as your contact suggested. Check it out and let us know. Also if you remove the interior door trim panel you may be able to see if it is coming from inside. I think cutting off 4"s of the door would be drastic. Check it out and give us some more info.

They are on the front door skin as you are facing the door on the bottom 2" or so on both doors but nowhere else on the car.

Jerry, are these areas on the flat panel on the bottom of the door. Where you have to get under the door to see it? Or is it on the front door skin as you are facing the door?

Hey Jerry, what you have there is the ole 308 rusting trick. If it is starting to bubble from the bottom of the doors, you will certainly need to have the rest of the car checked, as it probably has more in places you cannot see. Sandblasting will work, but only if you caught it in time. If not, the metal will have to be cut out and a new piece rewelded and repainted.

I am a new Ferrari 308 GTS owner and I have a problem that I hope you guys (and gal) can help me with. The bottom of my doors are starting to bubble. I was told that this is from the poor drainage holes in the bottom of the doors where water accumulates. How should I go about getting this fixed. Some have said to cut the bottom 4" off and have new metal butt welded in, while others have said sandblasting. There are about 5 quarter sized bubbles at each door bottom but none are through yet.
Thanks,
Jerry
