BTW you should see the bumper that I am driving with. All shot into little pieces, beacuse of a high speed "fun-trip" to the Keys and Sebring! That nick is nothing compared to that! I am driving this way since several months now waiting for next week, when I will go on vacation and can part with my baby for one week. I could not stand the seperation before... |

Doc, do you offer warranty with that new brain? As you can see I had problems before...:-) God does not want to fix that damn brain under warranty. Even my mum says she is not responsable. |

Miami Martin---Have you considered sending yourself, perhaps in a container ship to Italy for a brain transplant??On second thought stay in the states,I can arrange for a frontal lobotomy here in my garage! Magoo- decided to replace both light assemblies rather than other possibilities.Lyle Tanner ordered them from Ferrari-hopefully will be here next week.Have a good body guy to remove front bumper and do the switch.Price was less than half quoted by local F dealer. How come everybody agrees with Herbert including me? Is it because he's nasty and we are afraid of him. I don't think so, It's because he is usually right and very perceptive I might add. |

Drive it? ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY? How can you drive a car with a scratched wheel. Park it in the Garage immediately, send the wheel to Ferrari in Italy and have it done professionally, not that cheap US refinish with the wrong paint. There appears to be a scratch on the red caliper as well, have that taken care of as well while you are at it. ..and you know that only happened because it is a Euro after all... |

Let me tell you all a true story. Over the last several years I have been helping my Aunt complete her collection of a certain Christmas Dinnerware pattern. They are not readily available in S.C. so I would get her some of the pieces when I go to Florida. This past Christmas at her annual Christmas party I went to admire the table setting that I had proudly assisted in acquiring. To my dismay she had set the table with her everyday china. I asked her where was the Christmas China. "Oh I was afraid something would happen to it so I decided to keep it packed away". I couldn't believe it! What the hell good is it if you don't use it. So what if something happens to it. If you don't use something, you really don't have it to start with and if you are afraid to use it then you either can't afford it, or you should get rid of it and the worry of having it damaged. |

OK I did this time! To my TR rim today and well I did it a bit worse. I'll try to get a pic up tommorow when I yank it off to be refinished. I will be doing some other things (not driving the TR) this weekend and I can get the place that does my wheels to do a 3-4 day turn around so they'll get it tommorow and I should get in back within a week. -Ben I'll let you know what I paid for this when they see it to quote me. |

Absolutely no offense taken; in fact I was smiling when I typed my reply.I really enjoy this forum and you guys. Magoo-of course I remember the buddy business; I was just breaking chops. Now my final message on this subject-----Do you think the damage warrants selling the car??? |

All of the comments seemed light hearted to me. They came across as yes it sucks but don't lose valuable drive time over it. |

C'mon Martin, You know that these guys or myself did not mean anything by those comments. It did seem "Much Ado About Nothing" and in fun we responded. Remember the time I recommended a glass cleaner and I started one of the comments by saying "Hey buddy", trying to be friendly. Your reply was Buddy---------Hackett. I didn't take offense at that, or should I? All in fun. BRGDS. |

I'll be the first to say I said my comment in fun and with a smile on my face thinking "Boy, we ferrari guys love our cars". Martin, I apologize if you found it abusive. Definitely not my intent. |

O.K. youse guys----I didn't expect sympathy but such ABUSE! Seriously I'll probably have it done professionally this winter.Next time this sort of thing occurs I'll go to my shrink rather than the chat room!!!! |

Yes, you're right, I'm sure Martin took it the right way. :-) However, speaking as a self confessed anal car perfectionist, I can share his pain ! :-) Thing it, it's the first ding that hurts the most ... you kind of get immune to it after a while (?) Now .... where did I put that polishing rag .... there's some dust landing on my car ! Tsk .. |

I hope (I think) that Martin understands our comments. We are not being dismissive of his scrap, we are just saying that like any other car the Ferrari will get a little ding here and there when used. And why not wait until driving season is over to take car of those little things. You cannot have a museum piece all the time and drive all the time as well. There is a happy medium. As for caring about our cars, look at Herbert pictures and my TR looks no different (I have a couple paint chips in front but I touched them up -- I like the character they give the car). Like I said before, it summer so let's all enjoy and drive the cars. No harm intended by our comments. I apologize in advance if they caused any. |

Hey, lighten up a little bit on Martin, some of you guys ! He's obviously annoyed / upset he's damaged his wheel. It's alright just saying "forget about it", but whilst you might not give a s*** whether you damage your car or not, this guy obviously does ! :-) |

To fill in the gouge, you can use Devcon Aluminum Epoxy. its a two-part epoxy that contains something like %70 aluminum in addition to the epoxy glues. Would probably be stronger than the wheel itself. It would still need sanding and painting to make it perfect again, but better than trying to slap on bondo. This could be found at an industrial supplier (its been years since I had to get some, so can't tell where specifically...). |

Martin, I would take Brets' suggestion. Touch it up, drive it until bad weather sets in. If you're not satisfied with your repair then have it refinished. That's kind of a no brainer. BRGDS. Buddy Hackett |

I agree with Herbert, treat it like a good high speed paint chip. Par for the course. At least you are driving the car. I forgot where you live but damn I would wait 'til winter to do that!!! Drive brethren, drive!!!! |

I would just get some touch up paint from Ferrari and just lightly sand it and then touch it up. You could have it done professionally later on (that place in Ohio call wheel collision center is really good, they have ads in R&T all the time) if you wanted. |

Rather than commit suicide, I am asking for advice. I hit a curb and scraped the wheel causing the paint to be chipped off and some of the metal superficially to be lost. I am considering sanding and painting it myself; however if the consensus is that I should take it to a wheel guy, I will. Unfortunately he wants the car for 7 days which I will not do until the weather turns. Any advice as to what type of materials I should use and where would I get them. Thanks. See photo below. |
