The Michelin Pilots don't seem to have as large of a contact patch as the P-zeros. Just my observation.

If you want longer tire life have the rear of the car aligned with a more positve camber setting. That should help-out a little.

Any opinions on Michelin Pilot or the A/S version? I have them on my SLK and they are great.

Bridgestone rears lasted about 12,000 on mine with 6 track events, and were a very good tire on the street. They went away after 3 or 4 laps on the track, so I could not recomend them for track use. I replaced with P Zeros, but have not tracked them yet. They are OK on the street.

I got closer to 9K on my rears* and replaced the fronts well before they were worn out when I put a different brand of tires on the rear. I estimate that the fronts will last slightly longer than 2 sets of rears.

9K actual miles with 5 track events. About 6K was hiway cruising, 2K was backroad apex straifing, and 1K was track events.

I am in the process of negotiating for my first F car a 355 Berlinetta that need tires. I have heard that the ‘typical’ rear set is good for 5 to 6k miles.
Any brand recommendations for longer life in a ‘non track’ real-life setting?
