"Does this mean the 355 will not require valve adjustments? " The hydraulic tapets are the reason that the 355 has 2X the engine-out service interval of the 348 {30K instead of 15K}. "How do they get away from valve float at high rpms?" Careful engineering and light valves. |

The solution to no valve float at high rpm is light valvetrain components, and cam lobe design. Its funny that they went to hydraulic cam followers because domestic cars are going back to solid cam buckets with shims. Most ford engines require valve adjustments using shims. |

When did ferrari engines begin using hydraulic lifters in place of the shims to adjust valve clearance? |
