OK Guys. New discovery today. Griot's #11128 Grease Cleaner kicks butts! Wow, remove on contact, no scrubing. And does not take off paint (of course). $15 for a 35 oz bottle is steep - but that should last a year!! |

Stewart, You can use WD40 on a thin rag over the end of a thin wooden paddle no more than 1/8" thick and 1/4" wide. I would not use metal it can scratch through the cloth. You might find something made of plastic with the proper dimensions. WD40 will remove the carbon deposits as well as the oil residue and will not affect the paint. |

The crevices around the rear lights are where I have the most problems since I cannot give it a good scrubing. Can barely reach it with the cloth wrapped around my finger. That's why I am hoping that there is a cleaner/solvent that would take the film off by contact - without hurting the paint of course. |

I get lots of little black soot speckles all over the back of the car. I'm told this is normal for a carb car (doesn't show too badly on a red car). Washing regularly removes 50%, the rest comes off fine with polish. One/some of the previous owners weren't so meticulous with their cleaning and didn't clean much round the rear lights, so I've got permanent black in the hard-to-get-to bits, can't get this off. One day when I can be bothered I'll take the rear lights off and have a good old scrub in the crevices .... |

With driving, my car accummulates a film of oil and grime on the tail and rear bumper that is very difficult to clean. With a yellow car that shows very bad - an obvious dark shade. It takes major scrubing for it to come off. Anyone have this problem? Any cleaner that would take this off with less work? (...besides Goof-off :-) |
