There should be no effect even if the tires are different (within reason) diameters -- that's what you're differential is for. The 308's run about an 80% lock on the differential which can tolerate small mismatches in tire size. However, if someone has previously modified your car to give it a fully locked differential, this could be the problem. That said, all of this is extremely unlikely, and my guess is that you have something else going on with your transmission that coincidentally has reared its head at the same time as the tire change. |

If that were the case then your gears would also grind when you make a turn. |

Hi all, has anyone experienced this. I had a flat tire on the right rear. Bridgstone 205-70-14. I put on the spare, Michlin XWX 205-70-14. When I drove home the car would not shift into second without major grinding. Letting the rpm drop would allow me to shift. Could I be turning the rear wheels at different speeds causing the syncros to not work? All other gears shift smoothly. THANKS |
