When I had the nose of my 308 GTS repainted, the painter said the bumper and shock units must have weighed close to 100lbs! |

Thanks for the info Dave. I'm surprised at that. I didn't notice any height change when I pulled the rad to clean it out, but then, I still have that big ol' rubber bumper on the front... |

Ron, I had my radiator recored for about $300.00 last summer but as hot as it gets in New ORleans it still isn't cooling the way I want it to. The weld where the upper hose connects to the tank split so I figured while I had the front hood off and the radiator out I would swithch to the aluminum cross flow that Nick Scianna sell it is $799.00 plus shipping. He has them made using a stock radiator as a template so it should drop right in or at least as well as anything on a handbuilt car "drops right in". The only difference is where the bottom hose connects is moved over a bit but there is a fair amount of play in the aluminum tube for the bottom hose so this should not really be an issue. |

Peter, when Stewart Chung switched to a Euro front bumper and ditched his spare tire, he found his car raised up about an inch...that was why he went to the trouble with making those spring perches that lowered his car back down. So it is possible Frank's car might raise up a bit. But you are right, the shocks will have no effect. |

Paul, the stock Koni's are internally adjustable. Frank, you must remove the spring, compress the shock until it engages the setting teeth, turn CCW until it stops, then turn CW one complete turn. The damping mechanism has no affect on ride height, it just controls the flow of oil in the shock. Changing ride height is altered by spring length, height and/or weight. I doubt switching to a Euro bumper and ally rad will have any affects on the ride height of the car. Ron, I'm not sure which rad Frank is using, but another 'Chatter was pleased when he had an ally rad made by these folks: http://www.alumrad.com/ Prices look very reasonable... |

Frank, What's involved in changing to an alumninum radiator for a 308? Mine may need to be recored. I was told the core was brass, and it would cost around $600. Don't remember if that included labor to remove and install. If I can get better performance, and similar cost, I'd consider a new alumnimum unit. I'm probably going to need to do it before this summer (in Texas), since it gets a bit hot in traffic, even with the fans working. I guess that's not really relevant to this post. Sorry.

My 308 doesnt have adjustable shocks/struts to control ride height. Unless the QV's came that way or you have aftermarket adjustable struts to change the spring load, there is no such adjustment. You would need struts with adjustable collars to change ride height or shorter springs. |

I will be replacing the front shock absorbers this week and was wondering what the correct setting would be. I have a 84 US however I have replaced the US bumper with a Euro and will be losing a few more pounds when I change the radiator to a aluminum one. |
