I've been told before that these nuts are notorius for backing off and needed to be checked regularly. I ignored the advice until I just saw this picture! |

JRV, That's a real problem. Most shop guys are "on the clock". People that do not work on Ferrari regularly underestimate how long everything takes. I have watched many mechanics work. I real problem is work habit. If you put a nut on it should be tightened to running spec.. Otherwise leave the fastner off. Many a problem has been caused by the mechanic looking at loose nuts thinking they were tight. |

Well, at least you had the smarts to have a look before anything became jammed or broken, good for you. Valid feedback for 'why' mechanics should take their time and double check their own work. It's easy to make mistakes on Ferrari's when people try to hurry and rush through things. |

Well after getting the 348 up in the air I thought I would tackle the alignment of the shift selector. Much to my amazement I see that the 2 nuts were sitting on the cover plate - not on the ends of the bolts !!!! Oh well! The car went in to have a cam belt change 3 months ago - engine was out - saw them working on it! - I hope they tightened up the new tensioners better than these nuts! |
