It sounds like you will be driving it. originally you sounded like one of those 200-1000 miles/Kilometers per year types. Is is a sports car, drive it for fun. I'm sure once you do start to drive it you will be addicted, so don't limit your mileage. No specialty insurers in UK? Here in the states we have many with very reasonable rates and unlimited mileage. |

Paul just to use as a gage my 77 308 carb gets 17MPG highway (70-75 mph) and around 10 in the city but I like to drive in 3rd a lot just for the noise of it. |

David Judging by the low mileage that just about all these cars have compared to the average family car, I will be the same as everyone else. I will depend on my Ford familymobile for everyday hauling so the 328/308 will obviously get less use. The insurance policy will also limit the mileage unless I take out a second mortgage to get unlimited use. I already have the model by the way, a 1990 Corgi and very nice too. |

Paul If you don't plan on driving the car. Why are you buying it? Save yourself the money and buy a picture or a model. |

There are some things on 328's that are a LOT more expensive than 308's. Brake pads, for instance, are about 3x higher because of the electronic sensors. |

Thanks for the info Dave and everyone else also, your answers are pretty much as I suspected. I will probably be like most people and not put a great deal of mileage on the car, I can see myself just taking pleasure in looking at it and smiling. I still don't know yet if I will find a 328 or 308, but either one will do very nicely I think !! Paul |

Paul, I have had carb 308's, QV's, 328's and a 348. The carb car got the worst mileage (no surprise). 328's do better than QV's, but not by much (maybe 10%) The 348 was similar to 328. The biggest savings in 328's is from being better built and major service is a little cheaper too due to less labor. The biggest improvements in 328's from 308's are in the cooling, electrical, and ignition systems. And the extra power isn't bad either. Dave |

Drove from Fresno to Los Angles 225 miles averaging about 80 mph and got 25 mpg. I was surprised since I just checked the mpg for fun. Didn'n know the 89 328 was an econo car. |

I had a carb 308 and now a 328, I found little difference in mileage, and compared to the required maintanence costs, is of little consequence. |

I'm still picking everyone's brains to help me get my first Ferrari, I'm currently open minded on a 308 or 328, I am leaning just a little towards the 328 based on it being a little younger and with virtually the same fantastic appearance. One of the points I have heard is that the 328 is more economical, I know in the USA you don't think much about fuel prices (neither did I when I lived there) but us highly taxed Europeans have to keep this in mind. Does anyone have experience of both models? |
