Paul - anything that would interfer with the transducer would tend to falsely lower oil pressure readings. I suspect the problems is elsewhere. First consideration is a major oil conduit with something more than oil in it - something like silicon gasket sealer, dropped washer, cigarette butt, something of that nature. Jim S. |

Paul - are you suggesting that Lou clean the gauges, or the sending unit (transducer)? Jim S. |

The gauges tend to carbon up from sitting, best thing to do is pull them and clean them with a mild solvent. |

>>>In the interim, until you know more, if it were my car, I would avoid driving it.<<< I agree with Ric....;-)...and if ya just have to drive it, I'd stay away from the 6K rpm range. |

I agree with JRV (this time ), 120-130 is too high and can lead to increased wear. I suspect it's probably the gauge or sender. If you can get an actual mechanical gauge connected (where the sender connects), it would be very helpful to continue diagnosis. In the interim, until you know more, if it were my car, I would avoid driving it. |

A lot depends on ambient temperature of engine/oil/air when you start the motor. 130 is too high warm/hot but easily achievable with cold oil, but need more info to make even the slightest intelligent guess about the nature of whether it's a problem or just an anomoly associated with outside or engine/oil temp or sending unit/gauge. |

Exercising my 512TR after 6 months of storage the oil pressure seems high. Assuming each division on the gage is 10psi, I am running 110psi at 3000rpm and 120-130 at 6000rpm with warm oil. The manual says 78-92psi at 6000rpm. I don't recall seeing these numbers in the past but am not sure. Any advise? |
