I spoke with Andre and he's interested in making carbon fiber parts for Ferraris. I thinking about asking him if he'd be able to replicate a 308 airbox cover in carbon fiber--could be a nice touch to the engine compartment. I'd bet he can do it, as well as other various parts for different models. |

Jeff and Billy Bob--I have a very good friend in Montreal who is an expert at working with fiberglass and carbon fiber. He can reproduce any part --body or interior , if he has an original piece to make a mold from. In fact, he's just made the leap from hobby to full time carrer in manufacturing custom auto parts out of fiberglass and carbon fiber and he's excited about doing some Ferrari parts. His website isn't up yet , but he can be reached at: [email protected]. His name is Andre and he is the most skilled person in this area I've ever met. All of his work is top-notch and as smooth as glass. In addition, I guantee that he'll outprice anyone. I'm working with him on getting some Ferrari parts together for his prototypes. Feel free to contact him for details. |

Let me know how it goes. I'm interested in producing a mold to make replacement center consoles for the 348. Here's a good link: http://www.composites.com/main.htm |

I am actually doing that right now. I can't figure out how to make a moldless nice finish so what I am doing is...I made a Dash section for a racecar out of aluminium and hand pounded the shape on a sand bag. I just bought some CF componants. I'm going to experiment with waxing the internal surface of the Aluminium and cold lay-up the Cf on the interior. Then I'm going to vacum bag the whole thing and see what I get. I am not sure whether it is better to drill out the dash hole in the aluminium and try to lay-up this part too in Cf or if it is better to make the dash one piece and drill out the dash holes later. I'll find out soon enough. I have never worked with Cf and my experiance with composites are making surfboards when I was a kid. |

Any auto- artists want to try their hand at producing some custom carbon fiber parts? I found this thread: http://www.bryanf.com/info/carbonf1.htm |
