Thanks for the info. I am not very familiar with CV joints. Can they be rebuilt or does the entire halfshaft have to be replaced? I will put it up and take a look. Thanks Again.

Could be a hub bearing, but more likely a CV joint. The Diff loads the axles during cornering.

Put it up and take your hand on the axle (or you can use the tire) and try to induce movement (slack)...in & out and Fr to R...by rotating the tire fr & back slowly if you can see any slack in either joint they are shot.

The hub bearing you just check like any wheel bearing...by rocking the tire..any play..it's shot.

Greg, it could be the limited slip clutches. Have you added any posi additive? Or better yet change to Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil.

Sorry I should have put that. It is in the passenger's side rear. Thanks.

My 78' 308 is making a clunking sound when I am making a left turn (fairly sharp turn). It clunk, clunk, clunk. Is this a wheel bearing? I am not very familiar with them so any info on this would be helpful. Thanks.
