In sports mode the F1 trany WILL NOT shift by itself and will hit the rev limiter which is north of 8500. On the track I upshift as the needle swings through 8000. In normal mode, the trany Will auto upshift at the red line. Nail your foot to the floor and bam, bam ,bam as it goes through the gears. Quite a blast. |

thank you guys ,that was very helpful. I tryed one the other day at the dealer, but since ait was a test drive I could not try the sport mode and to go over red line to try the gear box properly, any way Ric commets was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you ,again./ |

Everything that Ric said are all true. Turning off the traction control (ASR) will allow wheelspin. You'd still need to have a competent shifting strategy working with the F1 system. You have to experience it first hand to make a final decision. Some people like it, some don't after a drive. I'm sure your local Ferrari dealer could arrange a test drive. |

if the driver goes over red line, does the gearbox shifts by itself? No, at least not in sport mode. You simply will hit the rev limiter. does the driver has to calculate to shift 100 rpm earlier to actually shift at the red line? In 1st 2nd and 3rd, the 360 revs so fast, you'd have a hard time calculating anything like a 100 RPM margin. You can shift at any point in time, and the computer manages the throttle once the shift lever is actuated (it's "drive-by-wire"). if I put 1st gear and step on the gas, will the whells spin ? If the ACS is turned on, no. If it is off, yes. Also are the shifts real time Yes. Far faster than any human can do it, at least in sport mode. ...I am afraid of getting a tip tronic kind of feeling ... Having driven both, I'd say the 360 F1 is very far from the Tipronic (which is acutally just an electronically controlled automatic gearbox).

Hi ! I own a 360 6 speed and I wonder about the feeling of an F1 gearbox. So if anybody with the knowledge can advise me on the following: -if the driver goes over red line, does the gearbox shifts by itself? -does the driver has to calculate to shift 100 rpm earlier to actually shift at the red line?(like the tip tronic gearboxes) -if I put 1st gear and step on the gas, will the whells spin ? or the gearbox doses the power in order not to spin? All this questions is because I would be interested in an F1 modena, but I am afraid of getting a tip tronic kind of feeling which is not at all sporty. Also are the shifts real time, or do they have a condsiderable lag between the clicking of the paddle and the actual gear shift?I am also afraid that the gearbox is so smart that it will do everything for me, shift up shift down, put neutral, ect... Well thanks in advance for any thoughts |
