Scott -- when you push a recycle/vent/defroster button on the AC pushbutton control module two things happen: 1. the vacuum source is directed to the appropriate actuator(s) on the AC unit to direct the air where intended, and 2. the terminal with the two yellow/green wires is connected to the terminal with black (ground) wire -- one yellow/green wire goes to activate relay "c" on the AC unit which in turn puts +12V on Pin I (green/white wire) of the AC ECU (to turn the system on), and the other yellow/green wire goes to activate the fan blower stuff. So perhaps three things are possible: 1. the electrical portion of your AC pushbutton switch has failed and the yellow/green wires are always connected to the black wire (commanding relay "c" to close), or 2. relay "c" has stuck in the closed (activated) position, or 3. the AC ECU has a brain cramp. Perhaps the first thing to do is verify/check if Pin I (green/white wire) on the AC ECU is (wrongly) at +12V even when the "stop" pushbutton is depressed. If so, you'll then need to determine if the problem lies in relay "c" or the AC pushbutton unit itself. If not, I'd guess an AC ECU brain cramp -- but it's just that -- a guess. Good luck... |

My 1990 TR is doing something new. The heat/AC system has been working fine, since I had the fan rehostat replaced. Today after I started the car, I pushed the OFF button for the Heat/AC and it kept running, and the fan went into full on position. The other buttons, Recycle/Vents/Defroster work and direct the air where its wanted, but I cant shut the thing down. Any ideas? TIA Scott |
