I have not taken this out to resolder but I totaslly desoldered the 4 layer fuse box circuit boards and resoldered it properly. Big Difference! Enzo's 4 y/o blind grand child soldered the boards! I suggest you try that first on the a/c unit. Heck I've never taken one of those apart I'll try it for free if you want. If your unit is busted you have nothing to loose. |

I read a thread on this 3-4 months ago as mine has done the AWOL bit as well! The multi plug at the rear somtimes works loose , i take the console out - dead simple job , diss-connect the multi plug clean the contacts (usually i do the pins gently with an emery board )re-connect and it's ok for a couple of thousand miles !!!This could be just luck but it's working !The other thread , the guy , i think it was modman , removed the unit & had all the joints re-soldered ! A job for the winter i think . Vardi's in the uk told me they can get new ones but they take forever to arrive , but they say the quality is a bit better although i should imagine it will go again. I think the price is about 380 stirling plus vat.NEVER bother buying a used one ! |

Sound like dry joints on the PCB. Quite easy to rectify but a SOB to find! Has anyone else ventured into these units before? Paul |

What is common here in Texas is an Overheating of the Power Circuit to the Blower Motor...(the 30a fused circuit) just discussed in another thread. IMO, as time passes the fan motor demand more amps than the circuit is designed to handle, overheating it and shutting the system down. I would first check the fused wires and relays in the trunk for signs of overheating. If that is the case I designed an upgrade for my customers systems. |

All, I have what appears to be a common problem with the air conditioning control unit in my 348. It will appear to work normally for the first 20-30 minutes of any journey, then goes awol with a mixture of problems from completely shutting down, to displaying error code E8. There are some postings in www.ferrari.com that these problems are due to the solidering on the board being of a poor quality, and that we can get these refurbished. Having just spoken to Ferrari UK, you can't get replacements anymore (what happened to Ferrari's commitment to spares for older cars ?)and the only option is get it repaired ! Any help appreciated. Thanks Justin
